Jet Beetle anyone?

If you don't like VW's look away now.

I recorded these clips on my phone at Big Bang this weekend. The Jet Beetle was one of two Jet cars doing it's thing to entertain the crowd. The other Jet car (The Pod Monster) did the 1/4 mile in 6. something seconds, that's 0 to 225 mph in 6 seconds. You have to be there to fully appreciate just how fast that is. I have seen it perform many times over the years and it always impresses this old boy racer.

And yes we did go back to the caravan stinking of jet fuel.

More pictures and reviews to follow.

Happy Birthday Freddie

Today is Freddie's birthday he has reached the ripe old age of two. Please join me in wishing him the best birthday ever.

As a small treat he will be joining Bart and I at Big Bang over this weekend. You know I have a duty as his oldest uncle to start his education and appreciation of the finer things in life as early as possible. Where better than a VW festival.

How happy would you be with giant Marks and Spencer Easter bunnies?

And a very happy St Georges day. Come on England lets celebrate this day properly. Don't be ashamed to fly your flag.

Bus vw air ride show lowrider

I think I just made dirty in my pants.

I'm so jealous.

The Drug Smuggler

We are off on our first trip of the year in the caravan this weekend. We will be spending the weekend Friday to Sunday at The Big Bang VW show at Santa Pod.

I am so excited I can't tell you. In preparation I was doing a little research on The Samba, this is actually a part of my everyday ritual. I search for vehicles that I know I will never own but love to just look at and absorb. I saw an ad for this truck and fell for it straight away. To my deep joy there was a link to this video on YouTube. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Now can anyone lend me $46,000 AUD?

Just think I get to do this all next weekend. Joy Joy Joy.

Babies burn rubber

Here are two of my favorite people in the world Em-Jay and Freddie. This video clip was taken on my phone last Saturday. We were on a visit to Mum and Dad's to celebrate Easter with the family.

After a burger lunch we retired to the street with the kids to burn some rubber. Not bad driving from a nearly two and a three year old. It must be in the genes.

Just Fucking brilliant

This La roux tune is one of my favorites on the radio at the moment. I was searching for a D&B version that I caught on Jo Whiley's radio1 show this morning. To my deep joy I clicked on this version by Hi Contrast by mistake, apparently this is the only recording on the Internet. I have checked and I cant find another version. So you have to just work through the dodgy quality and just enjoy the genius of it. Makes you proud to be English, we make some fucking good music.

This is the original version. I love it love it.

You can get a bit more info on La Roux here.

Just floating around the WWW and came across this piece of art from Banksy. It may well be an old one but I haven't seen it before. I love the effect of the spray, in fact I love the whole thing. Its pretty cool if you ask me (you are here to I take that as read). So I thought I would share.

Glimpses fleeting glimpses

Look who's back in town. Take that G20!

Best singles of the past 60 years

I was just saying to Bart the other night that I missed the KLF. The White Room is just a brilliant album. Many will not believe me but they have not given it a chance.

This was taken from MSN best singles of the past 60 years. The KLF get the best single of 1990.

"Every year that passes without the KLF we appreciate them more. Their signature song was ,What Time Is Love? KLF have released versions of this track throughout (and after) their career. This one took the instrumental “pure trance” original and added hooks which made it into a global hit. To most people who bought (or hated) the single, they were simply a chart dance act making pop floor-fillers. They gradually turned out to be so much more - as much a pop art joke as a band. We miss them."

Here are a couple of videos that I hope will encourage you to go out and buy the back catalogue. They are so much more than just a pop act. I don't remember seeing Girls Aloud burning a million pounds of their own money for the sake of art, however dubious that was.

They symbolise the best of the 90's to me: liberal, crusty old ravers with a conscience and possibly a bit mental . Now that is a band I can respect, and they rock. "Mu Mu!"
