Some welcom news for Bletchley Park

I just caught this story on the BBC news page. As you will know if you follow this blog I love Bletchley Park and support all of the great educational work that is going on there today. Looks like they have some new supporters from the National Lottery Fund.

Only click play if you have 24 minuets to spare.

It takes a couple of minuets to get into but I really like this video. Proper fly on the wall.

It's strange but it makes me wish I had a lift to stand in and talk to strangers. But I have no lift no bus stop no post office cue. I guess I will have to put up with the dealers I direct all day long.

PS you have to love Lilly..

Florence & The Machine Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) Jools Holland's Later Sept 15 2009

First let me say I adore Florence & The Machine (I know I say that a lot about music but it's true a lot). They play a mix of folky, dancy, rocky brilliance.

We are usually religious about our Jools Holland viewing, but we have missed both of the first shows of the new season. I was catching up on-line tonight and wow have we missed a couple of very special shows.

There is no other show on TV that gets this kind of performance out of artists. The first week had Muse who I also love, The Gossip, Florence and more. The second week has Dizzy and Beverly Night.

No other music show does better than that. Go and enjoy the complete episodes at the BBC Iplayer.

In the mean time enjoy this performance and please put some good head phones on, that's an order.

Come and stay in MK's newest hotel.

Mr Winkelman sure knows how to run a stadium. I have to say I was a skeptic but he seems to be pulling it off. I might book us in for a night, just to see.

PS the managing director and interviewer of this station and this piece is an old school friend of mine. Who new we had our own on-line TV station. I will be spreading the word, go Lincoln.

My husband seems to be on a bloging holiday.

So here is today's hot political story.

Family Guy double 'to woo voters'

Ross Hussey said he cannot see any resemblance to Peter Griffin
A County Tyrone councillor's alleged resemblance to Family Guy character Peter Griffin could soon be appearing on election posters.
Omagh councillor Ross Hussey said he was told about his cartoon lookalike by his nephew and a young party colleague.
The Ulster Unionist said he was not flattered but it did amuse him.
"Personally I can see no resemblance, but I have watched it and we would have certain similar traits - that's all I'm prepared to admit to," he said.
"To be perfectly honest, I didn't know who this Peter Griffin was until my 23-year-old nephew and young Ryan who works here pointed out a resemblance."
Mr Hussey said they would have to wait and see if the poster was approved by his party.

Peter Griffin was elected to his son's school board.
"Really it's a bit of fun, and anything that could get young people interested in politics is good.
"If they can see that we are human and realise that we're not all God's gift, why not? There's enough serious things out there without adding to the worries of the world."
Mr Hussey's doppelganger has successfully run for office in the cult US comedy, defeating his wife Lois in a contest to become school board President.
Lois was also elected mayor in an episode titled It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One.

Congratulations to this years Mercury Music Prize winner

I usually go out each year and buy all of the Mercury short listed albums. This practise has broadened my Itunes library no end, alas the credit crunch is crunching in my house this year so I will only be buying one and it will be this, Speach Therapy by Speech Debelle this years out of nowhere winner.

I have to say I am looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about.

I copied this story from the BBC news page just in case you live on Mars.

Speech Debelle: I knew I would win Mercury

Speech Debelle won the Mercury Music Prize for her album Speech Therapy
By Ian Youngs Music reporter, BBC News, Mercury Prize
With the coveted Mercury Music Prize in her pocket, London rapper Speech Debelle has become the hottest new star in British music.
Her win will be a surprise to many music fans, who may not have heard the name Speech Debelle before - but it was no surprise to the 26-year-old south Londoner herself.
Speaking the day before the ceremony, she had little doubt about her fate. "I'm confident I'm going to win," she said, before setting her sights on five Grammy Awards in the US.
When her name came out of the envelope on Tuesday night, all those sitting with her on her table erupted with ecstatic hugs, making her corner of the room look more like a rugby scrum than award ceremony.
But Speech was playing it cool.
In the press conference afterwards, she was asked whether she had expected to win. "Yeah," was the blunt reply.

The rest of the story here.
