The party is over

It's late Monday 11.12pm. We have had a long day and an even longer weekend. So we are having a quiet night in front of the TV. I will post something tomorrow with some pictures.

We had a great time by the way. Now where is my bed?

So we are all packed and Glastonbury bound in just a couple of hours.

So there will be no stolen news items or pictures of odd shaped sweets for the next few days. I'm sure that there will be loads to share with you when we get back. So take it easy and I will try to post something on Monday hang over, traffic and the weather permitting.

Forget Euro 2008! It's Swamp Soccer

OK so I have just stolen this story direct from MSN news but it made me smile. I hope it has the same effect for you. I will be supporting the angry Beavers next year.

Mummy I'm not sure she is one of us

Another BBC news story sorry, but I just couldn't resist this one.

You just have to love animals. If only people could be so accepting the world would be a much better place.

Tiger adopted by dog.

UFO spotted by police helicopter

I just wonder if this is is all down to the fact that Dr Who is filmed in Cardiff. Maybe the BBC has some far out fans. Or maybe Dr Who is filmed there because of the visitors. See if you can spot any suspects in tonight's episode.

Odd box

This is Dominic Byrne from Radio1's Chris Moyles show. This is from his weekly slot on BBC news highlighting the weeks stranger news stories.

We listen to Chris every week day as we get ready for work. Dom is the resident news reader on the show and is a little on the dumb side for a man with his job. That said we like him.

So here is this weeks Odd Box.

So what do you see?

Come on EU surely there must be some ridicules law being broken here. lets make sure that they stay in the US where they are on open sale. Our US cousins obviously have a much laxer attitude to what the public are allowed to see on there supermarket shelves.

F can you send me some.

Let me know what you think of these.

Kite festival

Looks like we missed a trick here. I have never seen so many kites all in one place before. We will have to book tickets for next year. Kite festival.

When Beetle meets mini RV - welcome the Winnie-Bug-O

OK I know we have been here before, but I did warn you that I have a VW obsession. Link here to the full story in Volks World.

If I had seen this before we purchased Mabel (shut your ears Mabel) it would never have happened between us. In my humble opinion this is the best of both worlds. Not only does it combine the practicality of its camping capabilities and it's quirky looks but most importantly it is a VW that I can park outside my house. Now how good is that?

OK it probably wont win any awards for the best looking dub and may be shunned by some. But I love it, I think I may also love the mad man who made it. xxx

As nature intended?

I saw this story today and it made me think. How crazy is it that the European Parliament have ruled that we can't have odd shaped fruit and veg in the first place, and why do we listen.

Are they worried that smutty jokes about funny shaped potatoes is going to corrupt our shared cultures.

I'm not sure why this one is funny by the way ;¬)

I can't imagine what this poor guy is going through. I just thank god that my two are to big to sucked up by the Hoover.

The Dutch kick ass

The Dutch do indeed Kick ass and for many reasons, but for this post there is only one.

As we (England) where knocked out of Euro 2008 I have been supporting Holland (my granddad was Dutch) .

Last nights game was no disappointment as they kicked France's ass 4 - 1 . As far as I am concerned it could not have been a better game. Not only did I have the satisfaction of backing the winning side (for a change) but the old rivalry between France and England was satisfied with a resounding French defeat.

So come on everyone lets get behind the bright orange. I know for sure that my Canadian/Dutch cousins were right there with me. Hi to Mo, Vince and the newest member of the family Gabriel.

Diamond Mercedes of Saudi Prince Al-Waleed...

4.8 Million Dollars

Is this just wrong?

If you have run out of things to spend your money on I can think of a million hungry kids that would be grateful of just a tiny proportion of what this guys cars are worth. On the other hand if you have the money should you be able to spend it on what you like without guilt.

It makes me a little uneasy.

On the other hand if you call it art and the mainstream agree as Damien Hirst did with this skull. I guess you can get away with it. This sold for £50 Million or $100 Million. It makes this car seem like small change.

It does look kind of cool.

The end of the world is nigh

I hope you have all done the things in your life that you have always wonted to do, as tomorrow may not happen.

I'm guessing we will be OK though.

Mabel has been tested

We took Mabel out on her maiden voyage this weekend. We went to Emberton park only 10 miles or so from home but it feels like a whole world away. The Sun even came out.

Here we have Bart studying the instruction manual.

We where pleasantly surprised at how well things went. Everything is in full working order we cooked a proper meal (Tesco finest) put up the awning, with help from my dad, thanks dad. We got the water pump and the toilet working, Bart even had a hot shower in the morning. I went to the shower block. And the best thing of all the dogs loved it, they were in doggy heaven, outside all day with nothing to do but lay in the sun and be admired by all who passed our way. Oh and the bed was comfy to and all four of us fit comfortably.

Here is Cooper making sure we don't miss anything on TV.

So roll on the summer I have already booked a whole load of long weekends off work so we should be getting some good use out of her. I think we may go down to the coast kiting before to long.

Wonder Women of FCM

Over the last couple of years I have built up a relationship with the fabulous ladies at FCM Travel. Not only have they proved to be amazing value for money, if you get into trouble they jump straight into action.

This was proven on a recent trip.

I arrived at my given destination absolutely beaten. I dragged my sorry ass to the nearest rental car desk (a 20 min bus ride). When I got there I had a charming interaction with the young lady behind it. We negotiated the type of car required, the insurance and all the loops were jumped through to make sure that I was not some mastermind Ford Escort thief. I think the price worked out at around $250 for the 6 days. We got to the part of proceedings where I was expected to hand over my credit card. I just mentioned that I would like to see the total before I signed on the dotted line (thank God) it was just under $800. I nearly passed out. I was told cheerfully that local tax was a killer (no joking).

I turned on my heels and I was out of there before you could say, Rip Off. So I ended up back on the courtesy bus for the 20 min drive back to the main airport building. I had no idea what to do next.

My final destination was about an hour from the airport. I discovered that there are no buses or any other public transport. So I was truly stuck.

I decided to grab a cab and work out the hire car later.

When I got to where I was going I figured it was time to try again. I thought Lee (FCM) is always very helpful, she may not be able to do anything in this instance but she may have some good advice. So I gave her a call and she jumped straight into action. Before I knew it a car had been arranged and the hire company promptly delivered it to my door. All for around £300.

So thanks, Leigh, I said I would give you and the girls a mention in appreciation of a job well done and helping a customer in need. I will recommend you to all who will listen.

More of the old school skating photoes

I was searching for a picture for another post and came across these. These are of Bart and I when we lived together in Washington DC at the start of our marriage. They where taken in the summer 1996. I used to skate outside the white house nearly everyday when I met Bart for lunch.
